The most common symptom of endometriosis is pelvic pain associated with periods. Many women experience cramping pain during periods but the ones who will have endometriosis will experience far more pain than usual. Other symptoms of endometriosis are as follows:

  • Painful intercourse. Pain during or after intercourse (sex) is common with endometriosis.
  • Pain with bowel movements or urination. You're most likely to experience these symptoms during a menstrual period.
  • Excessive bleeding. You may experience occasional heavy menstrual periods or bleeding between periods (intermenstrual bleeding).
  • Infertility. Sometimes, endometriosis is first diagnosed in those seeking treatment for infertility.
  • Other signs and symptoms. You may experience fatigue, diarrhea, constipation, bloating or nausea, especially during menstrual periods.

There are other conditions as well that can cause pelvic pain and those can be confused with endometriosis, like PID (Pelvic inflammatory disease) or irritable bowel syndrome.

If you feel that your periods are very painful, and you are having severe pain during sex it is better to show you gynaecologist and rule out endometriosis. If you are facing problems in conceiving it is best showing an infertility specialist as soon as possible.
