Our Journey
This was the first IVF ever done by Dr. Manju Jilla. And it resulted in a pregnancy! It was also the first IVF pregnancy ever in the district of Marathwada and Western Maharashtra. Although it started with a bang, Dr. Jilla realised through subsequent IVF cycles that this field is complex, requiring thorough knowledge of not only medicine, but also physics, chemistry and biology.
This was a time when slow feezing was done, and it took 4 hours. Now the technology has changed to vitrification which takes less time but requires more skill. Again the first frozen embryo pregnancy of the district, Dr. Jilla started establishing herself as a pioneer of the field.
ICSI is a highly challenging procedure in which a sperm injection is performed inside the egg under 400 times magnification. The alignment of microtools and the use of micromanipulation system requires a lot of practise, judgement and skill.
First Frozen Oocyte Pregnancy Of Marathwada
IVF in these years was at its infancy. Incubators, media and culture systems were not standardised leading the doctor to struggle to get exact body like conditions. It required the doctor to understand physics, chemistry and biology at the same time.
Having served at low cost and high results for 16 years in Aurangabad, Dr. Manju Jilla, boosted by the support of her daughter Natasha, started Jilla IVF in Mumbai. Natasha is a MSc Clinical Embryologist from the University of Leeds, UK. Over the past 10 years, the results of Jilla IVF have improved even more after the brilliant Natasha joined the team.
